We have had over fourteen consecutive years of declining defense budgets and over a decade of military-force structural reductions, yet the overall number of military missions has increased. This has stretched our armed forces too thin and has taken a toll on America's defense capabilities. Our government needs to take supportive action to ensure our exceptional military can continue to secure our great nation and its boarder.

The current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan are being fought by brave young men and women. Yet liberal representatives have laid down rules that make it difficult for these courageous military personnel to succeed. The Constitution gives Congress power over the military, and our government should take action to support our service men and women.

Our country seems to have lost focus on the sacrifices made by our service members. The media generously covers the mindless antics of entertainers and athletes, yet rarely honors active service members or veterans. Our country owes its gratitude to those who are willing lay their lives on the altar of freedom.
